Meet Latrese

Latrese Kabuya is a passionate advocate for mental wellness, focusing on inspiring, uplifting, and educating individuals in this area. Currently, she serves as a child and family therapist at Amethyst Place, a recovery housing facility for women and children.

In addition to her work as a therapist, Latrese is also a prominent media personality. Her contributions extend to a CBS affiliate, where currently she shares valuable insights on mental health, self-care, and emotional wellbeing as a weekly TV Segment Contributor. She hosts along with her husband the "Motivation Monday with

Team Kabuya" segment on a local radio show and has previously worked as a "Fill In" Host for a lifestyle show on an NBC affiliate. Latrese's expertise has been further showcased through her writing for SheKC and The Real KC online magazines. She also hosts her own Internet YouTube/Podcast Series titled "Insights with Latrese," empowering individuals to discover, connect, and express their best selves.

Latrese also has extensive experience in the beauty industry spanning over 20 years, working as a professional skin care and makeup artist for renowned brands including Estee Lauder, MAC, Bobbi Brown, Lancôme, and Kiehl's. She has had the privilege of serving as a makeup artist to celebrities and has been involved in numerous high-profile events such as runway shows, weddings, and photo-shoots.

Known for her transparency, relatability, and infectious energy, Latrese is in high demand as a speaker. She actively participates in Women's Wellness seminars, mental health events, workshops, and conferences, often taking on the role of a keynote speaker. In 2015, Latrese organized the inaugural It's All About You (IAAY)

Empowerment seminar, specifically designed for girls aged 8-18. This seminar focuses on promoting healthy self-esteem, positive self-image, and equipping young girls with practical tools to navigate the challenges of peer pressure and other issues they face in today's world.

Beyond her professional endeavors, Latrese is deeply committed to giving back to her community. She actively serves as an advisor and chair of various community initiatives, using her influence to make a positive impact on the lives of others. Latrese holds a BA in Organizational Leadership from MidAmerica Nazarene University and

an MSW from the University of Kansas.

As a devoted wife and mother to five beautiful girls, Latrese also takes on the role of a surrogate mother and mentor to numerous girls in her community. In her leisure time, she enjoys activities such as hiking, dancing, and cherishing quality moments with her family.
